John Ferguson is the Founder, President & C.E.O. of Strategic Financial Partners in Colorado Springs, CO, Denver, CO, Leawood, KS, Salt Lake City and Ogden, UT. The firm is particularly known for its expertise in the business insurance, estate planning, qualified and non-qualified retirement planning and investment advisory arenas.

In 2002, John’s Firm was awarded the highest field honor for New England Financial, The President’s Trophy. In 2005 and 2006, SFP was awarded the President’s Award and Premium Growth Award from the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. In 2007, SFP was named, “New Firm of the Year” for Securian Financial Services, Inc. SFP also was awarded Minnesota Life Insurance Company’s “Protecting Hopes & Dreams Award” in 2009 for having the largest annual percentage increase of life insurance in force.

John has been involved in the financial services industry as an Advisor, Senior Advisor, Mentor, Unit Sales Manager, General Agent, Firm Founder, C.E.O. and President. He began his career in 1985 and celebrated his 32nd year anniversary this year.

John is active in community and industry organizations and has honed his leadership skills by previously serving as President or Chairman of the Board for: The Rotary Club of Independence, MO, Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado, NAIFA-Harry S Truman Chapter, NAIFA-Colorado Springs Chapter, New England Securities, Inc. Investment Product Committee for 3 years, Society of Financial Service Professionals for 2 successive years, Estate Planning Council of Colorado Springs National Advisory Board for Securian Financial Services, Inc. 

John served as a member of the Investment Committee and is presently a member Emeriti of the Foundation Board of Directors for the University of Central Missouri.  He has also been a member of the Premier Resource Group since 2013 and is currently a member of the Petroleum Club.

John has been published in several publications to include the National Underwriter, Colorado Springs Business Journal, Managing Made Easy, Power Selling, Colorado Springs Senior, Rocky Mountain Advisor, In Biz, Business Sense, The Gazette, The Torch, The Strategic Advisor and Living Well Magazine. He has been featured on local radio and television. His speaking credits include LAMP, NAIFA and presentations to various companies to include John Hancock, New England Financial, Penn Mutual and Securian on SFP’s marketing approach. He has been a speaker for the “Soaring Eagles” national study group on four occasions.

In 2008, John was named “Best Local C.E.O.” by the readers of the Colorado Springs Business Journal. In 2010, John was the recipient of the David W. Goers Achievement Award.
